Apologies for being away (Kudos to the Gators)

I have some WordPress issues.

Although I’m a Seminole, I wanted Florida to win. The SEC became my favorite conference in the seven great years I lived in South Carolina, and the Gamecocks are a favorite team my son, Rob and I share.

Does the Richardson probe have long arms to Florida, Illinois, and California?

According to this report from the Prowler in Am Spec.

Richardson withdrew his name from nomination for Commerce Secretary due to a grand jury investigation into possible financial dealings between his New Mexico administration and Rubin’s firm, CDR Financial.

But it isn’t just Obama and Richardson that Rubin has ties to. According to federal law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation, federal officials are also looking into CDR’s political and financial ties to Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, as well as to Democrat state and local officials in Illinois, California, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Rendell placed Rubin on a political patronage commission in Pennsylvania, and Rubin was also given a seat on a Los Angeles City commission back in 2002, both seemingly as the result of political contributions to political action committees. Rubin has also been a financial supporter of Rev. Al Sharpton.

CDR also had close business ties to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, marketing and selling financial instruments created through low-income housing “lease to own” programs across the country. “If someone wants to understand just how deep Democrats are into the housing bubble and the economic crisis, they should look at some of the financial wheeling and dealing around some of those ‘lease to own’ programs,” says a former Freddie Mac lobbyist based in Washington. “It’s a veritable ‘who’s who’ of Democratic state and local politics from New York to Los Angeles.”

Rubin, founded the firm known for many years as Chambers, Dunhill, Rubin & Co, though there is no Chambers or Dunhill associated with the firm. It appears that after a number of embarrassing investigations into alleged IRS investigations into back-door deals related to municipal bond financing in Atlanta and other localities in the late 1990s, the firm’s name was changed to CDR Financial.

Richardson’s relationship to Rubin goes back to the early 2000s, in which time Rubin has given Richardson and his PACs more than $100,000. In October 2003, Rubin gave $25,000 to Richardson’s Moving America Forward. In 2004, Rubin cut another check for another Richardson PAC, “¡Si Se Puede! Boston 2004.” Translated, from the Spanish, the PAC is called Yes, We Can, and it financed Richardson’s political activities for the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.

According to a Bloomberg News report and New Mexico records, between 2003 and 2004, CDR made $951,566 advising the New Mexico Finance Authority on $420 million of interest rate swaps. By comparison, when New York City offered $900 million in derivatives, it paid its adviser about $400,000.

“Long before Bill Richardson was governor, New Mexico was known to be one of the most corrupt states in the country,” says a current Federal Bureau of Investigations official who has overseen criminal investigations related to drug-trafficking and organized crime in the state. “If there is anything to this investigation, it appears that it’s just politics as usual for New Mexico.”

What people dont often pouint to is the speed with which Dems acquired such fund raising assistance. Dems relationship with unions goes back several decades. But Wall Steet, Banks and Freedie Mac and Fannie Mae are relatively new cultivation of patronage that Senate Dems are Schummer, Dodd, Obama and Clinton benefitted from. Money to Dems things collapse. Blame Bush and the Republicans. Get a bailout. Fax talking points to NBC, NYT, CNN and WaPo and their ya have it.

“This is how WE roll BABY!” And you see that thing in Minnesota. That was us, too, Jack.

C’mon. Did anyone really think the Dems and his Soros people in Minnesota were going to let Coleman win when it was that close. NFW.

Things going well on the ground in Gaza for IDF

You really didn’t think that CNN and MSNBC and the rest of the gang were going to cover whats really happening in Gaza, did you?

Roger Simon of Pajamas Media says to use ynet

According to Diskin, “The Hamas leadership abroad is stressed, working to obtain a ceasefire and disappointed by the Arab countries failing to stand by its side. The situation of the leadership in Gaza is similar. A real threat exists today on the Hamas enterprise in the Gaza Strip. The leaderships in Gaza and abroad feel an existential threat.”

IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said that more than 400 Palestinians had been killed in the operation so far, most of them Hamas men. “Not much is left from the Hamas govern

It appears that the IDF has learned lots of lessons. There’s a relative calm about western response. The silence of Bush and Obama for that matter serve as endorsements of the campaign which may well be toppling Hamas. Europe and the UN have been strangely slow to respond and have appeared at times to be lukewarm in condeming Israel.

if Hamas were expecting to be bailed out by someone, its too late now.

Teddy Atlas rips Woody Johnson and Brett Farve

Says Atlas:

“You’re paying a guy ($13) million, you’re asking fans to buy PSLs, you’ve got a new facility, you’ve got money all over the place,” Atlas said, “You bring this guy in and in your mind, you’re looking at Mick Jagger. Now who’s to say the owner doesn’t start to meddle? It can disrupt a lot of things and it can explain some things that fans don’t see.”

Besides Johnson, Atlas also criticized Favre, who threw nine interceptions in the final five games. Atlas said running back Thomas Jones spoke the truth this week when he criticized Favre.

“I think Brett Favre basically is a selfish guy,” Atlas said. “Brett Favre goes out there with his gray hair, his Wranglers and gets up when he gets hit. I understand why people like that. But there’s another side. He’s a selfish guy

I started disliking Brett Farve a couple of years ago over the constant drama he put the Packers and his teammates through. The Packers understandably grew weary of this and when they asked him to be a big boy about it this year Farve orchestrated a soap opera where he stared as a teenage drama queen.

Cast aside all the nonsense the ex-player talking heads are saying about the negative things coming out of the Jets locker room. Mike Ditka and Chris Carter were critical of Thomas Jones on a personal level this morning on ESPN. They were seeing their own reality as a star who gets extra special treatment. Nonsense. When you are a star, you have even more of a responsibility to your team. Ditka especially should know this. You’ve not heard a peep of support from the Jets lockeroom for Farve and that silence is telling. Farve’s fallen in love with his press guide bio and the Obama-like coverage from the press he’s received over the years.

Huff-Po writer calls for Al Gore’s apology on global warming fraud

Talk about being off the wow chart.

To put it simply Gore and his like minded followers highjacked science first by referring to a theory (global warming) as a law. Gore once called it settled science. Few things are settled science. Gravity is settled science.

While Gore is a dangerous demogogue, it is the professional scientists who helped Gore advance this poppey cock who should be the most ashamed.

Bill Richardson withdraws from consideration for Obama cabinet

Uh-oh.

Hat tip to Hot Air.

Govenor Richardson’s administration has been under investigation for questional business dealings. He insists he’s done nothing wrong.

Whatever. Democrats are more ethical.

At any rate, I worry that Obama will use another stealth candidate for his leftist agenda like he has at Labor, Justice and EPA.
