Politics, Education, Culture, and oh....the Mets. A former athletic trainer for the NY Mets, the writer still follows his team while offering his own unique outlook on politics. A life long GOP conservative, this high school teacher has departed from his party roots and takes issue with the Florida GOP's legislative agenda on education. Recent favorite topics involve Florida's controversial education reform bill SB 6, local efforts to defeat Allen Boyd (D) FLA 2nd and the Florida Senate race.

Honduras’s institutions remain united in support of Zelaya’s overthrow. The Supreme Court ruled that Zelaya violated the constitution by trying to hold an illegal poll on whether people support his proposal to change the constitution. The court issued an arrest order for the president on June 26.

Zelaya also ignored a court order that said he couldn’t fire the head of the military for refusing to oversee the survey, and stormed a military base with a mob of civilians to “liberate” the ballots.

The OAS has given the Micheletti government until tomorrow to cede power and allow Zelaya to return, and threatened to suspend Honduras’s participation in the multilateral body.

Micheletti supporters marched in Tegucigalpa today and other cities in Honduras yesterday. More than 1,000 Zelaya backers protested peacefully yesterday in front of the congress building and at the United Nations mission in Tegucigalpa.

The Micheletti government declared a 72-hour state of emergency on July 1 and imposed a nationwide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Memo to Obama and Dems: It’s one thing to focus on changing the social fabric of America, but you cannot side with the enemies of our nation.

AJ Strata makes an excellent point why it is the European Union and not the US whom should be doing the heavy lifting on the Russian invasion of Georgia.

Russia has attacked a European nation (even if it is not yet in NATO or the EU). When the EU rebuffed Georgia’s entry into NATO recently, and therefore withheld the security protections that membership incurs, they were more interested in poking America and Bush in the eye. They sacrificed their neighbors to get in a cheep shot at America – and now Europe is being invaded.

And in his usually biting way, Strata skewers Europe and the Left:

Is Europe still a bunch of Neville Chamberlains, willing to sacrifice smaller nations in sure-to-fail effort to appease the predators? We know Obama is the epitome of Chamberlain model, still hoping for defeat in Iraq after we have already achieved victory! The world is be tested again, as it was on 9-11. Will it respond in a lesser way to the killing of civilians by military forces than it did to the killing of civilians by terrorists? Are we at the point were military invasions are less worthy of responding to than terrorist attacks?
