FLORIDA Congressional District #2: Paul C. McKain – former teacher, fireman, inventor and author runs will be on the ballot in November to face Allen Boyd

Thanks for the information from RetiredPublicSafety.

It’s clear that McKain is an impressive candidate and has been involved with Tea party events. He’s been receiving some early publicity and will not have to mess with a GOP primary in August.

However, a strong run by McKain will split the conservative vote with whomever comes out of the GOP primary. This Perot effect is what many have been fearful would spawn from the electric Tea Party movement. It would assure Boyd’s return to Congress.

Look for Boyd to insist that McKain be included in debates against with whomever gets the GOP nod.

RSP also points out there are two other GOP candidates, Charlie Ransom and write-in candidate Robert Ortiz. I’m linking Ortiz as a independent.

Question: With American Jewish Democrats watching Obama

clearly siding against Israel – especially those in Congress like Chuck Schumer and Gerald Nadler – when will you be honest and say that being a Democrat is more important than being Jewish?

Did Dick Cheney show that Republicans can and should stand up to Democrats?

Pat Buchanan thinks so.

While some are saying that the GOP should take it easy on Judge Sotomayor, this may not be the way to have the discussion before the American voters. It was only until the GOP went on the offense did they take over the Congress in 1994.

Perhaps it should be that conservatives and the republicans should take the current examples of Cheney, Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh and play hardball with Democtrats. They must be effective as it is they whom are demonized with such vigor.

Jesse Ventura – former Minnesota Govenor – is ignorant of recent history

No wonder they elected l Franken.

Poor Jesse Ventura bougt into the lie that Bush and Cheney lied about WMDs in Iraq. Simple minded fool. First off, all intelligence agencies agreed that Iraq had WMDs. Second, Bush’s speech to congress only referred to a possibilty of them being sought. Third, its already on record as such. Anyone whom says such lies or believes similar is ummmmmm stupid.

Are Obama and Emanuel breaking the law by hijacking the census from Commerce?

Well, probably. But you really didn’t think that they would leave the census to a Republican in Judd Gregg? What chance is there that Eric Holder will issue a ruling that corrects this? If final say is in the hands of the WH staff, there is no congressional oversight. Not that it matters with a Dem congress.

More here,
and here.

Will Obama be asked about this during his prime time presser tonight? Or will he cherry pick reporters? It will be interesting if he calls on Fox News, the Poltico or anyone from Chicago.

Larry Summers was on with Stuart Varney of Fox earlier to talk about the stimulus package and was unable to do anything but fillibuster and utter gloomy predictions. He offered no justifications that you’d expect from an economist.

Lowering the bar for future Presidentia nominees

From Jennifer Rubin:

It is worth noting that the Senators who blithely vote to confirm Panetta — and whomever else the popular new President sends up — are setting the bar for future presidents and their nominees. From Geithner we learned that lack of candor and chiseling the Treasury aren’t disqualifiers for a top economic post. From Eric Holder we learned that poor judgment and fibbing to Congress are no barriers to becoming Attorney General. And from Panetta we are learning that “expertise” is in the eye of the beholder and entirely optional for key national security slots.

This of course assumes that DEM senators end their hypocricy and would conduct themselves in such a way which allows this.

Defense contractors linked to Murtha raided by Feds

No one should really be surprised. Its hard not the question the wisdom of the voters who sent him back to congress.

POLITICS: Pelosi’s Dems Shut Down Congress to Avoid Drilling Debate

John Campbell (R), is a US Congressman from California’s 48th District. He has a blog on his official web site. He’s also posted on Townhall’s excellent blog page. Today Campbell writes of Speaker Pelosi’s continued efforts at blocking meaning action on drilling.

Congress has passed no meaningful energy legislation to move us towards lower gas prices and more American energy and now has recessed for a 5 week break. Republicans, including yours truly, wanted to speak more about that on the floor of the House this afternoon. The Pelosi majority took the unusual step of calling for immediate adjournment to prevent these speeches from going forward and turned off the cameras and microphones on the House floor.

It’s one thing to not allow a vote on more energy production. It’s another to not even allow people to speak about it. I and several dozen others are speaking on the House floor right now to a gallery full of cheering people to demand that Speaker Pelosi allow a vote on more American energy production. No TVs. No microphones.

You can turn off the lights, but you cannot silence the will of the American people.

Good for you, Congressman.
