Joe Lieberman will not go along with gov’t run insurance

Maybe the last of the real statesmen in the Senate.

“If we create a public option, the public is going to end up paying for it,” Lieberman said following an hour-long confab with public-health experts at the Ashmun Street community center of the Monterey Homes public housing complex. “That’s a cost we can’t take on.”

There has got to be some pratical options that involve the states. There goes the federalist in me. But Obama has a point in emphasizing preventative medicine. I agree. Momograms, prostate screens, cholesteral/lipid level reads can be seen “preventative investments” in public health. Lets state’s pay for these within care giver contracts. If things of this nature are available to the uninsured, they might be prompted to visit a primary care physician once a year. This could result in long term savings at all levels of care and administration.

BASEBALL: Investigating Manny’s Quick Exit

Apparently this is underway. There’s indications that it will revolve around Ramirez’ refusals to play. This is not new tactic by an unhappy ypawberrlayer. Think Gary Sheffield and Darryl Strawberry.

So what does Selig propose to do about it? Are MLB to start punishing players who conduct themselves this way when they are under garunteed contracts. We’ll see.
