Demleftdom easily personalizes issues and calls people names with the treatment of Sarah Palin continuing to demonstrate a sickness of character and itellectual capabilities. Its hard to find worthy any argument of Andrew Sullivan after following his grotesque diatribes on Palin. Sullivan and his sad collegues comfortably utter untruths and pass along lurid gossip as journalism. Todd Purdum’s Vanity Fair profile of Palin is another example. Today, members of the McCain campaign who worked closely with Palin went of record in refuting Purdum’s piece which relied on those who would not go on record.

There are indeed members of the McCain campaign who are throwing mud at Palin as evidenced by Fox News’ Carl Cameron reporting as much – without attributing his story to anyone. The vicious nature of those who engage in such discourse must be called out – and yes labeled accordingly. They can no longer be ignored.

Democrats have been unable to use their technique of seperate and destroy against the many current voices that are trumpeting conservative arguments against their party and Obama. Why? Because there are so damn many of them!

This is a good thing.

Just take a look at the current Dem-Kos Kids-Huf Po- Axelrod dilemma. Newt Gingrich makes a speech over the weekend where he says that Obama’s economic policies have failed. And before they have a chance to unite en masse, Sarah Palin gets significant face time and makes a few speeches, appearances and interviews.

Oh, goody, they say. Palin gets a tasteless joke from David Letterman and the View girls. Boy, those lefties sure are good at calling people names and making classless jokes. One’s gotta wonder at some point which demographic actually appreciates these.

Meanwhile, Rush is on Monday whom according to the Gallup data is seen by only 10% of Republicans as actually speaking for them. Palin hysterics can’t be maintained, and they never really got around to Newt who even combined with Dick Cheney and Limbaugh only represent 29% of Republicans according to Gallup.

They never really get around to Limbaugh either as he’s followed by Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. Breathless, they must be still be reeling from Charles Krauthammer’s acceptance of the 2009 Eric Breindel Award for Excellence in Opinion Journalism. Krauthammer had the audacity to credit Fox News for “single-handedly breaking up the intellectual and ideological monopoly that for decades exerted hegemony (to use a favorite lefty cliché) over the broadcast media.”
Holy identity politics, Robert Gibbs! He credited FOX ef-fing NEWS.

Amongst all this is the emergence of Hollywood icon, Jon Voight, whom gave a rallying speech before Gingrich. And curse Roger Ailes, O’Reilly had HIM on last night.

It’s noteworthy that save Palin, these voices are not elected officials. This may prove to be a very good thing as its assured these voices will rally as one for GOP candidates in 2010 and most certainly for the party’s nominee in 2112.

Its clear that there are too many voices for Democrats and their accolytes to demonize. There are sure to be more. Maybe its time for Republicans to realize that the party does indeed have shared ideals and that all these voices are a good thing.

From John Hinderacker at Powerline:

Barack Obama’s lawless conduct in connection with the Chrysler bankruptcy is sending shock waves through the business community. It is important to understand what is happening here. Many think that Obama is merely engaging in crony capitalism, favoring his political supporters (most notably the Auto Workers Union) at the expense of others. That’s true, of course, but it is much worse than that: Obama has tried to bully those who have not bought his favor–Chrysler’s non-TARP secured creditors–into giving up their legal rights by threatening to use the powers of the White House to damage their businesses. This sort of lawlessness is common in some of the more corrupt Third World countries, but it is brand new to the United States.

More from Gateway Pundit

Only Fox News has been advancing this by interviewing democrat lawyers who supported Obama that are being strongarmed in Huey Long fashion. Will it get further?

In what cannot be considered anything more than hypocrisy, Fox News’ Bill Sammon reported this:

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: “I certainly hope he doesn’t succeed.”

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president.

“We rush into these focus groups with these doubts that people have about him, and I’m wanting them to turn against him,” Greenberg admitted.

The pollster added with a chuckle of disbelief: “They don’t want him to fail. I mean, they think it matters if the president of the United States fails.”

Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: “Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!”

The press followed Carville’s orders, never reporting his or Greenberg’s desire for Bush to fail. The omission was understandable at first, as reporters were consumed with chronicling the new war on terror. But months and even years later, the mainstream media chose to never resurrect those controversial sentiments, voiced by the Democratic Party’s top strategists, that Bush should fail.

That omission stands in stark contrast to the feeding frenzy that ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail. The press devoted wall-to-wall coverage to the remark, suggesting that Limbaugh and, by extension, conservative Republicans, were unpatriotic.

“The most influential Republican in the United States today, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, said he did not want President Obama to succeed,” Carville railed on CNN recently. “He is the daddy of this Republican Congress.”

Limbaugh, a staunch conservative, emphasized that he is rooting for the failure of Obama’s liberal policies.

“The difference between Carville and his ilk and me is that I care about what happens to my country,” Limbaugh told Fox on Wednesday. “I am not saying what I say for political advantage. I oppose actions, such as Obama’s socialist agenda, that hurt my country.

“I deal in principles, not polls,” Limbaugh added. “Carville and people like him live and breathe political exploitation. This is all a game to them. It’s not a game to me. I am concerned about the well-being and survival of our nation. When has Carville ever advocated anything that would benefit the country at the expense of his party?”

Carville told Politico that focusing on Limbaugh is a deliberate strategy aimed at undermining Republicans.

“The television cameras just can’t stay away from him,” he said. “Our strategy depends on him keeping talking, and I think we’re going to succeed.”

Greenberg added: “He’s driving the Republican reluctance to deal with Obama, which Americans want.”

In 2006, 51 percent of Democrats wanted Bush to fail, according to a FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll

Gee, what a big deal it was for Rush Limbaugh to say he wanted Obama to fail at his goal of socialization.

Hypocrisy…thy party is Democrat…..thou chorus is the MSM.

But you really didn’t think that they would leave the census to a Republican in Judd Gregg? What chance is there that Eric Holder will issue a ruling that corrects this? If final say is in the hands of the WH staff, there is no congressional oversight. Not that it matters with a Dem congress.

More here,
and here.

Will Obama be asked about this during his prime time presser tonight? Or will he cherry pick reporters? It will be interesting if he calls on Fox News, the Poltico or anyone from Chicago.

Larry Summers was on with Stuart Varney of Fox earlier to talk about the stimulus package and was unable to do anything but fillibuster and utter gloomy predictions. He offered no justifications that you’d expect from an economist.

Lets hope this isn’t more KGB smoke and mirrors. Diplomatic pressure and world condemnation have been stronger than even the Russians probably imagined it would be. Freedom loving countries are hoping that the Russians were feeling isolated. They were not far from overtaking Georgia and causing a government collapse. It may be that they still get one or both of those goals. In the event that the Russians are standing down, diplomatic pressure cannot let up.

Steve Haragan is just reporting live from Tbilisi, Georgia that Russian jets are still hitting targets in the country’s capital. He confirms that Vladimir Putin is directing operations himself and that it is believed that Russian airborne troops will be deployed into the country. He also said that from the Russian ships will land additional troops into the country.

Putin spoke to President Bush yesterday about the Georgian operations. I wonder if he lied to the president about it. It looks bad that Bush is being pictured as having a good time at the Olympics while what is proving to be a chilling return of one time Soviet expansionism.

As what Russian President Dimitry Menvedev told President Bush became public, it may signal that the Russians are looking to get out of the conflict. Menvedev is quoted by a Kremlin spokesman to have told Bush the following:

In a telephone call with Mr Bush, Mr Medvedev “stressed that the only way out of the tragic crisis provoked by the Georgian leadership is a withdrawal by Tbilisi of its armed formations from the conflict zone,” a Kremlin statement said.

Apparently Bush informed Medvedev thats their military actions were disproportional:

“The attacks are occurring in regions of Georgia far from the zone of conflict in South Ossetia. They mark a dangerous escalation in the crisis,” said Mr Bush, who is attending the Olympics in Beijing.

Vladimir Putin is reported to have returned from the Olympics to the area. Photographs have gone around the world that show civilian apartments that have been bombed in Gorgi which is outside the disputed territory.

I’m not sure if the Russians were prepared for the world media coverage of their massive aggression that a Fox News correspondant just confimed included Russian naval ships. Clearly this was planned well in advance by the Russians due to the presence of Russian armor and its navy. And it was timed to coincide with the beginning of the Olympics.

Media coverage in the US would be much greater this weekend had it not been for the revelations by John Edwards which confirmed his extramarrital affair.

The US-educated Georgian president has been quite public with his open desire for a cease-fire. The fact that the Russian president responded to the same could be indicating that they might want a way out.

The world will know Russian intentions if their planes continue to be seen over Georgia when the sun comes up there in a few short hours.

UPDATE: Writing in Pajamas Media, Roger Kimball believes that the Russians desire to reclaim all of Georgia.

When Russian tanks and troops poured into the separatist Georgian province of South Ossetia yesterday, it was not, as Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said, part of a “peacekeeping mission.” It was part of an imperialist mission whose undeclared goal is to reabsorb the whole of Georgia–West-leaning Georgia with its critical oil pipeline supplying energy to an increasingly thirsty Europe–into mother Russia.

Indeed, that pipeline is the unacknowledged key to the drama–unacknowledged, anyway, by the belligerents. As an AP story notes, the “U.S.-backed oil pipeline runs through Georgia, allowing the West to reduce its reliance on Middle Eastern oil while bypassing Russia and Iran.” A good thing for the West; but is such autonomy something Russia (or, for that matter, Iran) wants to encourage? Indeed, as I write, Reuters has issued an unconfirmed report that earlier today Russia attacked not only targets in South Ossetia but also targeted “the major Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.”
