How Republicans should court Independent voters

From Doctor Zero at Hot Air:

Republicans need to win over independents, not pander to them. We must persuade them to climb against the slope of a political landscape that has been tilting left for generations, ever since America accepted the idea that its central government has the responsibility for fixing every problem in life, and the right to demand a limitless amount of their wealth and liberty to fund its efforts. In the Total State now under construction, the last thing anyone will be permitted is independence.

Peggy Noonan is no longer in touch with conservative America

A once gifted and inspired voice of conservative principles, Peggy Noonan’s rambling and condescending column on Sarah Palin is clear indication that she has joined the arrogant elitism of her Manhattan diggs. Today’s takedown of Noonan’s transformation to her upper west side sensibilities by Doctor Zero at Hot Air is a worth read.

Of the idea that Palin made the Republican Party look inclusive, Noonan snarls, “She makes the party look stupid, a party of the easy manipulated.” Well, that’s what they say at the high-toned Washington cocktail parties, where the elite liberals keep Peggy Noonan as a pet, so it must be true. The vast number of Palin admirers will be thrilled to know that Peggy Noonan thinks they’re stupid. I’m sure that will make them rush right into the waiting arms of Noonan and her weak-tea wing of the GOP.

Essentially, Noonan is saying that she thinks a significant part of the republican electorate are stupid. Her slide to a haughtiness that only is found in a handful of area codes is astonsihing in ways that are hard to even contemplate.

Democrat media lies about Sarah Palin being investigated by FBI

Its a categorical denial.

A day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resigned, a federal official in her home state dismissed one potential explanation for her sudden and unexpected resignation: a rumored FBI investigation into the former Wasilla mayor on public corruption charges.

Despite rumors of a looming controversy after the Republican governor’s surprise announcement Friday that she would leave office this month, some of them published in the blogosphere, the FBI’s Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.

“There is absolutely no truth to those rumors that we’re investigating her or getting ready to indict her,” Special Agent Eric Gonzalez said in a phone interview Saturday. “It’s just not true.” He added that there was “no wiggle room” in his comments for any kind of inquiry.

Don’t expect any apologies. But its long since time we started questioning the character of those whom both create and spread these rumors. If indeed the attorney that represents the Palins interests does go forward with sue individuals for slander, it will reveal which Democrats are responsible for funding such slime.

Two Democrat female talking heads have revealed their own despicable lack of morals in their cruel attacks on Palin. See Liz Trotta’s comments and the tasteless column by Maureen Dowd.

It’s long overdue that conservative’s take on the pitiful name calling of the left and legitimately question the character of those making such public personal attacks. When you show the bully you’ll hit back, they have a tendency to back down.

POLITICS: Republicans in Congress Taking Drilling Directly to the People

As reported in my previous link from Congressman John Campbell, Amanda Carpenter confirms this extroidinary improptu meeting that Republicans are having on the floor of the House chambers.

The CSPAN cameras have been turned off and the House Democrats are on their way home, but members of the GOP are staying late.

I’m getting reports from the Hill that House Republicans are gathering on the House floor, in the dark, with no microphones, to talk directly with taxpayers who are visiting the Capitol about gas prices.

Pelosi and her environmentalist pay masters have no intention of allowing more drilling. Today’s extroidinary events on the House floor cements the issue for Republicans. Look for them to exploit in a manner which could turn several seats back to republicans. John McCain has already signaled he is on board with off shore drilling with Obama being steadfastly against it.

This issue more than others may affect who McCain picks as VP. It may move Alaska Govenor Sarah Palin to the front. Palin is an extremely effective advocate for drilling and her presence could additional juice to a ticket which is already gaining some steam.
