FLORIDA Congressional District #2: Paul C. McKain – former teacher, fireman, inventor and author runs will be on the ballot in November to face Allen Boyd

Thanks for the information from RetiredPublicSafety.

It’s clear that McKain is an impressive candidate and has been involved with Tea party events. He’s been receiving some early publicity and will not have to mess with a GOP primary in August.

However, a strong run by McKain will split the conservative vote with whomever comes out of the GOP primary. This Perot effect is what many have been fearful would spawn from the electric Tea Party movement. It would assure Boyd’s return to Congress.

Look for Boyd to insist that McKain be included in debates against with whomever gets the GOP nod.

RSP also points out there are two other GOP candidates, Charlie Ransom and write-in candidate Robert Ortiz. I’m linking Ortiz as a independent.

A signal that congressional Dems are beginning to run scared

Two vulnerable Florida congressional Dems voted against their party by voting against raising the debt ceiling. Suzzane Kosmas and Alan Grayson joined the GOP in voting against raising the amount the government can borrow.

I know. THAT Alan Grayson. He normally rolls over for anything Pelosi wants. Kosmas at least has some history in moderation, but Grayson is a zealot that seemed to be auditioning for his own show on MSNBC. Either he knew the vote would come out the way it did, or he blinked. It could be that Grayson is feeling the heat and is seeking to save his political hide in November.

Dems stalling on seating Scott Brown; McConnell points out that Kirk should not be voting

Its been 15 days.

Brown today demanded to be seated while senate dems are jamming things through in the mean time.

Mitch McConnell protested the continued voting by Paul Kirk. It may come to a head if they attempt to get a vote an SEIU operative to the NLRB.

While reports today are saying that Brown will be seated tomorrow afternoon, something tells me that it will be delayed or that senate dems will attempt to hold a votes on some controversial nominees. Maybe both if dems remain true to form.

Some Democrat members of the media still in denial

…that the Brown victory in Massachusetts was a anti-Obama vote.

They could be using WH talking points. Not all Democrats are reading them though. Evan Byah indicated as much last week. That war we’ve been hearing about within the GOP is actually now underway in the Democrat Party. The denial by the left coupled with the WH’s full speed ahead mode is likely to be on full display during the President’s SOTU Wednesday.

Another local voice tells the world why Honduras was right to throw out Zeleya

But Obama and the UN were right.

It has been revealed that the Supreme Court informed him of not only the illegality of such an act, but also told him of the potential consequences. When faced with the facts, it is said the Zelaya was given an option; either proceed with the vote and face prosecution under the law or resign as President and receive safe passage to a neutral country.

My understanding is that he signed a letter of resignation and opted to go into exile, rather than face the music.

With that said, and if it is indeed fact, this is where I take issue with those organizations and countries which provided a knee-jerk reaction to the unfolding situation in Honduras.

Specifically, I take issue with the Organisation of American States. This entity, which is led by Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza, immediately called for the re-instatement of the “democratically elected President of Honduras”. My disdain with the OAS runs deeper than just this matter, but I will attempt to remain focused.

Democrat Allen Boyd in trouble over cap and tax

Democrat Congressman Allen Boyd will have problems with Florida Panhandle voters over his yes vote on cap and trade. Conservative Ponderment has more.

Why Boyd who represents a very conservative district would support Nancy Pelosi’s bill is a mystery. Boyd is the leader of the Democrat Bliue Dog conference. Perhaps he was strong armed by Pelosi as he needs funding. His son was arrested last year on immigration smuggling charges. Panhandle voters won’t tolerate a Democrat more loyal to Nancy Pelosi than they are to their interests.

A conversation with someone in Iran

At HuffPo with Parvez Sharma

Q: In your opinion is Mousavi really the only hope? He was never really a reformer before — so how is it that he became the hope for people to such a degree?

A: I don’t think he is the only hope and the best option but I do think that’s what these people want and need right now. They can’t aim for a huge change and started marching against the Islamic republic of Iran, but they can get to the point they like with these changes and these small changes. Plus I think right now the issue is more how they’ve been treated and lied to and.. So they want there right back more than anything and in this process Moussavi has suddenly become the face and the leader. They voted for him and now they want their vote to be realized. I also think he is a bit different now, not that his way of thinking or ideas has totally changed and his super open minded person but he has changed, and I strongly believe his wife is the power behind all that.

Emphasis mine. There has been much mention of Moussavi’s wife. This communication gives weight to the argument that Moussavi does indeed represent change from the existing regime. It’s interesting to hear how many women are among the demonstrators.

These people are very brave and know that thie lives hang in the balance. There is some indication that elements of the military won’t fire upon the protestors. Is this more prevelant than the regime wants us to know.

Snowe whinning to NYT about GOP criticism to her vote for Obama stimulus

I would imagine that the she’s taken some heat that she was not expecting hence the self absorbed lament to the NYT. Specter’s decision had nothing to do with ideology and everything to do with his political hide.

Arlen Specter in an act of self preservation that stomps on anyone’s principles

Yeah, Dems, he give you that fillibuster proof thing in the Senate. But this guy is all about himself and his seat. He doesn’t have a rats ass about anything but covering his own political hide. He’s switched parties before. If he were a real man of principle, he would have gone the same rout as Joe Lieberman and faced the voters of the party who elected him and then gone independent. If he can sell his vote on card check, he will do so. It’s likely that he sold his vote on the stimulus the same way.
